PUBLIC COMMENTS — None OLD BUSINESS A. Budget Update — Staff - Director Skeels explained that the budget that may be passed by City Council includes the position loss in Recreation division of a Recreation Supervisor. The previous debated position of a Recreation Coordinator will be saved for another year. The Parks maintenance position that was to be a "soft - landing" at Public Works will be staying in Parks for now. Programs - Skeels stated that the all Departments were directed to reduce the cost to operate by ten percent for the upcoming year. The loss of a Supervisor in Recreation affects the Youth Advisory Committee, Art in the Park, Music in the Park and summer recreation camps. These programs will be re-evaluated as the summer moves along. Concerns regarding the loss of Art in the Park were expressed by Commission as a whole. Comments about the nature of the event being more commercial and less of a "hometown" or "community" feel to it were expressed. NEW BUSINESS A. Commissioner Shanus requested that staff review the three sport/three year honor that the Recreation Department had in place for sports at Burlingame Intermediate School. There appears to be a breakdown in communication between the school and the recreation department regarding the hanging of banners or the placement of trophies for this honor. Shanus would like a resolution to be attained and have the students visibly honored on campus. They are now watering during the "off -leash" hours at the park. (Staff reports that the sprinklers are on a cycle that includes thirteen zones, the last are in the cycle the "off -leash" are of the park. The start time of the entire cycle will be moved back to 11pm. This should have a completion time of 5:30 am.) Hesselgren also inquired about the changes in the Walk of Fame process that she and Administrative Secretary Helley discussed about a month ago. Helley reported that the changes had been made to the hard copy documents; however, the process is currently with the City Managers office.
