RESOLUTION NO.
That WHEREAS.. the San Mateo County Civilian Defense
Council desires temporary use of the largest building (Gunst
Home) in Washington Park, during the war emergency, to house a
Selective Service Board, the Red Cross Disaster Committee, its
own facility, and for such other services as the present war
exigencies may demand; and..
WHEREAS, the Burlingame Recreation Commission has con-
sented to the use of the said building for the above mentioned
purposes and recommended that permission therefor be granted by
the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED:
That the San Mateo County Civilian Defense Council be,
and it is hereby, authorized to use the aforesaid building
(Gunst come) for the purposes above set forth, provided, no
changes or alterations to the said premises be had without con-
sent therefor having been first had or obtained; such permission
for use is to continue until revoked by the City Council.
The foregoing Resolution was introduced at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of Burlingame held on
February 16, 19420 and adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen :Buck -Burrows -Coleman -Hunt -Roth
Noes: Councilmen :None
Absent: Councilmen;None

Honorable Sirs:
At the regular meeting of the Recreation Commission, and in the presence
of three members of the Council, the resolution previously presented
to you for final adoption, ,�:as revised .The following revised
resolution, as approved by the Commission, is herewith presented to
you for final approval;
"The Recreation Commission is wholly cognizant
of the immediate defense emergency, and is
desirous of cooperating in every way possible;
It also believes there is a need of cattying
on an intensive recreational program to bolster
public morale,a program which may require the
use of the entire Gunst property; that to meet
the urgent needs of the San Mateo County Civilian
Defense Council,this Commission recommends that
the Gunst home be made available to th-.t Council,
the Selective Service Board, and the Red Cross
Disaster Committeeton a temporary emergency basis
at the will of the City Council after recommendation
from the Recreation Commission."
