RESOLVED, by the City Councils of the Cities of San Mateo,
Burlingame and Hillsborough, that
`"MEREAS, Section 1596 of the i;_ilitary and Veterans Code,
Chanter 920, Statues of 1943, provides:
"The California State 'var Council shall establish by
rule and regulation various classes of civilian defense
workers and the score of the duties of each class. The
California State '+,far Council shall also adox)t rules and
regulations prescribing the manner in which civilian de-
fense workers of each class are to be registered. All
such rules and regulations shall be designed to facili-
tate the paying of workmen's compensation.";
� AME_�S, the California State ':gar Council on October 7, 1943,
adopted rules and regulations establishing classes of civilian
defense workers, the scone of the duties of each class and the
manner of registration of such workers;
WHEREAS, Section 1597 of the I' ilitary and Veterans Code,
Chanter 920, Statutes of 194€3, provides:
"Any civilian defense organization which both agrees -
to follow the rules and regulations established by the
California State :4a-r Council -pursuant to the rrovisions
of ;Section 1596 of this code and substantially complies
with such rules and regulations shall be certified by
the California State rear Council. Upon making the
certification, and not before, the civilian defense
organization becomes an accredited civilian defense
organize 1_on. ";
iiHEl' EJIS, the Cities of San IF-ateo, purlin-"ame and Hillsborough
have ro istered and will hereafter register civilian defense
workers for participation in either civilian -protective services
or civilian war services; and
HIEREAS, said cities desire to becore an "accredited
civilian defense organicion" in order that injured civilian
defense workers registered with it ray benefit by the provisions
of Chapter 920, Statues of 1943.
NO'v-i, THEREFORE, the City Councils of the Cities of San Yateo,
Burlingame and Hillsborough hereby agree to follow the rules and
regulations established by the California State livar Council under
date of October 7, 1943 pursuant to the provisions of Section
1596 of the LTilitary and Veterans Code, Chapter 920, Statues of
1943. The City Clerk of each of said respective cities is here-
by instructed to send two certified copies hereof to the Calif-
ornia State War Council.
This resolution shall become effective vrhen adopted by all
of the move named city councils.

resolution adopted by the City Council of the City of Burlingerne,
California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 6th
day of December 194 3 by the follotdving vote of the
