WHEREAS the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company has
pending before the Public Utilities Commission of California an
application for an increase in telephone rates throughout the
State; and,
VMEREAS the City Council deem it to be for the best in-
terests of the City of Burlingame that this application be re-
sisted and that a number of cities of the State have contributed
to a fund for the purpose of procuring evidence and expert coups
and advice in connection with the resistance to the application
and believe it advisable to join with such other cities;
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bur-
lingame that the sum of $500 be and the same is hereby appropria
from the General Fund of the City as the contribution of this
City toward the defense fund in the application above mentioned
and the City Clerk and City Treasurer are hereby authorized and
directed to proceed pursuant to this Resolution.
I, Herbert K. White, do hereby certify that the fore-
going Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City
Council held on October 20, 1947, and was adopted by the following
vote:
