HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 025-1947RESOLUTION NO. 25-47 CONDEMNING THE PREMISES AT 109 AND 115 BURLINGAME AVENUE IN THE CITY OF BURLIN- GAM'E AS BEING UNFIT FOR HUMAN HABITA- TION AND ORDERING THE BUILDINGS REMOVED. WHEREAS, the Chief of the Fire Department and the Building Inspector of the City of Burlingame by a report dated May 28, 1947, called attention to the City Council that the buildings located at 109 and 115 Burlingame Avenue were in a dilapidated condition, unoccupied, with no sanitary facilities and were maintained in violation of Section 15035 of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California and recommended that the said buildings be condemned and removed; and ub WHEREAS, upon receipt of the aforesaid reportithe Chief of the Fire Department and the Building Inspector, the City Council then fixed Monday, July 7, 1947, at the hour of 8 p.m., and the Council Chambers of the City Hall, City of Burlingame, as the time and place when and where any person interested may appear and show cause why the said buildings should not be said condemned and ordered removed, and further directed b y/resolution that a copy thereof be forwarded to Mrs. Carolina Soderlund, the reputed owner of the premises at least ten (10) days prior to the time fixed for said hearing; and WHEREAS, at the meeting of the City Council of the City of Burlingame held on Monday, July 7, 1947, no person appeared to show cause why the said buildings should not be condemned and ordered removed and the matter being then regularly before the Council for its consideration and action it was then ordered as follows: That the buildingslocated at 1 09 and 115 Burlingame Avenue in the City of Burlingame are found to be maintained in violation of the provisions of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California and are unfit for human habitation and are a fire hazard and a menace to the health and safety of the persons in the city residing within the vicinity of the prei-,dses; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the owner of said property be notified to remove the buildings located on the said premises within thirty (30) days from the date hereof and failing to do so the director of Public Works of the City is hereby authorized and directed to proceed with the demolition of said premises and to report to the City Council of the City of Burlingame the cost and expense of said demolition and removal. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be forthwith forwarded to Mrs. Carolina Soderlund, the reputed owner of the said premises. I. Herbert K.
