dHEREAS, under date of April 29, 1946, the Building
Inspector, Chief of the Fire Department and the Sanitary
Inspector of the City made a combined housing sanitary, build-
ing and fire report of their inspection and the premises in the
City known and designated as 314-316 Lorton Avenue, a copy
of said report being hereto attached and made a part hereof; and,
4HEREAS, the said reports specified numerous violations
of the health and safety laws of the State of California and
the City Building Code, and also directed particular attention
to the fire hazard which endangered the lives of fifteen adult
persons occupying the upper portion of the building of said
premises; and;
WHEREAS, upon receiving of said report, the said City
Council on May 6, 1946, adopted a Resolution, No. 20-46, which
set 8 o'clock P.T,_'., Yay 20, 1946, at the Council Chambers in
the City Hall, City of Burlingame, State of California as the
time and place where all persons interested may be heard and
directed notice to be given to the owner of said premises and
the manager or operator of said building; and,
4HEREAS, at the time and place for said hearing, the
matter was partially heard before the City Council and was con-
tinued to June 3, 1946, for further hearing, and upon said last
mentioned date, said matter was given a lull and complete hear-
ing, and after mature consideration;
IT IS RESOLVED that those certain premises in the City of
Burlingame commonly known and designated as 314-316 Lorton
Avenue, be, and the same are hereby condemned as being sub-
standard and maintained in violation of the Ordinance Code of
the City, the Health and Safety Code of the State of California,
and by reason thereof their occupation endangers and jeopardizes
the lives of human beings occupying them;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the owner be notified
that the occupation of said premises by human beings must cease
not later than July 3, 1946;
BE IT FTT3i T =4 RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
forwarded to the Rental Department of the Office of Price
Administration at 1355 Yarket Street, San Francisco 3, California,
for consideration and action;
BE IT FURTHER R'`SOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
posted at the entrance to the premises herein referred to and a
copy mailed to the owner of said premises, and to the person or
persons managing or operating the apartments thereof.

meeting of the City Council held on June 3, 1946, and adopted

Upon request �4317, made combined housing, sanitary, building
and fire inspection of two story wood fraTre structure having store
space on ground floor and substandard apartments and rooms on second
floor. Structure constitutes a file hazard because of site and use.
There were 6 men and 5 women occupants of apartments and rooms.

STORE USED AS PAINT STORE
15024- 17811 - Large drums of inflammables containing nitrolac,
paints, thinner, petroleum spirits, lacquers, lacquer
thinners, asphalt in paper buckets, rolls of asphalt
roofing and linoleum stored in store and in rear
porch. This use and storage in this buildingis an
illegal storage and a dangerous fire hazard._

Thirty (301 day Notice to Abate 401970 posted.

Dept. and are included as evidence with official report.
It is jointly recommended that condemnation proceedings be
instituted because of dangerous condition of premises.
