HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 021-1947RESOLUTION NO. 21-47 DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE RESULT OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE_24, 1947 WHEREAS, a special election was held in the City of Burlingame on Tuesday, the 24th day of June, 1947, for the purpose of submitting to the electorate the proposition of adopting a municipal charter for the City of Burlingame; and WHEREAS, notice of said special election was duly and regularly given as required by law, that voting precincts were duly established; that election officers were appointed and voting supplies furnished, and in every respect and manner the said election was held and conducted, as required by law, and the votes cast were received within the time and manner pre- sribed by the election code of the State of California, control- ling elections in the cities of the sixth class; and WID:REAS, the City Council of the City of Burlingame duly convened at the usual place on Monday, June 30, 1947 to canvass - the returns of said special election and as a result of such canvass, the said City Council finds that the number of votes cast, and the result of such vote appeared to be as hereinafter stated; NOW, THEBEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the said special election held in the City of Burlingame on Tuesday, the 24th day of June, 1947, was held and conducted in the time, manner and form required by the laws of the State of California, govern- ing elections in cities of the sixth class; That there were eleven (11) voting precincts established for the purpose of holding such election, said precincts being a consolidation of the regular election precincts established for holding general state and county elections and were consolidated as follows: Voting Precinct "A" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 1, 21 32 4, and 5, Voting Precinct "B" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 20, 21, 35, 46, and 47, Voting Precinct "06 comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 6, 79 81 9, and 14. Voting Precinct "D" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 10, 11, 12, and 13. Voting Precinct "E" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 15, 16, 17 and 22. Voting Precinct "P" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 18, 192 23, and 24. Voting Precinct "G" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 259 26, 27 and 32. Voting Precinct "H" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 33, 44, 45, and 48. Voting Precinct "I" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 34, 36, 42, and 43. Voting Precinct "j" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 28, 29, 30, and 31. Voting Precinct "Y" comprised of State and County Precincts Numbers 37, 38, 39, 40 and 41. That the total number of votes cast in said consolidated precincts was 2,712. That the total number of absentee ballots cast was 61. For adopting the charter . . . . . 9. ... . . . . . . That at said special municipal election held at the time afore- said the proposition of adopting a charter received 1,218 votes and against adopting the charter received 1,555 votes and as a result thereof, the adoption of the charter proposed by the Board of Freeholders, filed in the Office of the City Clerlt on ' 7 the nth day of April, 1947, was defeated.
