IN RE: HOSPITAL SITE
WHEREAS, at a meeting of the City Council of the City
of Burlingame, duly held on March 14, 1949, the attention of
the Council was directed to a serious controversy which had
arisen between the Directors of the newly organized Hospital
District, of which the City of Burlingame is a part, and the
Mills Estate, a corporation, (owner) of the selection of a site
for the erection of the hospital; and
WHEREAS, it appeared to the Council that the controversy
was of such nature that it might be necessary to go to litigation
for its determination, which process would greatly delay the
erection of the hospital and thus partially fail in the rendition
of service so presently and urgently needed in this community;
and
WHEREAS, the Council regretted the unfavorable tangle in
which the issue became involved, and with a desire to express its
combined thought in the matter;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Directors of the Hospital District
meet with the owner and amicably adjust the controversy to the
benefit of every agency and person involved considering all of
the circumstances and conditions surrounding the natter, to the
end that litigation be avoided; that the most economical proposi-
tion be agreed upon, that the future development and growth of
the City of Burlingame and the welfare of its citizens be given
important consideration in the selection of a site for the
hospital.
