Meeting called to order by acting Chairman Martin at 8:00 P.M.
1. TENTATIVE MAP NO. 5A. A REVISION OF A PORTION OF TENTATIVE MAP
NO. 5 MILLS ESTATE.
Director Public Works Marr reminded the Commission that a tentative
map of Mills Estate #5 was approved by the Commission in July, 1955.
Subsequent to then, the Division of Highways has requested an ad-
ditional 104 feet be reserved for widening of the Skyline Boulevard
and an interchange structure at Trousdale Drive. The present map
presents the changes necessary because of this request.
Mr. Thompson of Wilsey and Ham discussed the map with the Commission
relative to lot sizes, lot and street slopes and change in street
lay -outs.
The size and shape of the proposed playground site was questioned by
Commissioner Martin and it was thereafter agreed to present copies
of the map to the Park and Recreation Departments for their con-
sideration and comment.
2. VARIANCE - Mrs. A. M. Blumar - Proposed one-story office build-
ing; Lot 1A, Block 2, Town of Burlingame, Northwesterly corner
El Camino Real and Primrose Road - Zoned R-3.
A communication was read from Mrs. A. M. Blumer requesting the Com-
mission to give favorable consideration to her request.
Mr. G. L. Ridgeway, real estate agent representing the interested
parties, addressed the Commission and presented for its considera-
tion a sketch of the proposed building.
The Commission agreed, after discussion, that the lay -out of the
building as proposed on the sketch and the arrangements for park-
ing were not the most desirable.
Mr. Ridgeway agreed to bring a revised plan before the Commission
at the meeting of October 24.
3. Planning Consultant Mann reported on the following:
1. The City Council has concurred with the recommendation of the
Planning Commission on the matter of the Richfield Oil Corporation
Use Permit.
2. Also the extension of the permit for the Standard Oil Company
in Mills Estate.
3. The amendment to the zoning ordinance with reference to gar-
ages in front portion of certain lots, also amendment with refer-
ence to parking requirements in C-1 and C-2 Districts received
first readings at City Council meeting of October 3, 1955.
4. The amendment in reference to minimum size lot requirements
has been held temporarily pending the preparation of a map out-
lining the areas of 7000 square foot lots.
5. The sign ordinance has been held by the Council for study.
4. Commissioner Kindig, at the request of the Commission, agreed
to attend future meetings of the San Mateo County Advisory

5. The Commissioners concurred with the suggestion of Planning
Consultant Mann that "a clean-u drive in Burlingame" be con-
sidered. It was agreed that with the help or improvement clubs
and other such organizations some progress might be made in in-
fluencing home owners in certain of the older districts to im-
prove the appearance of their properties. Mr. Mann suggested
that the Commission might make a number of field trips through-
out the City surveying and making notes for future reference.
There being no further matters for consideration, the meeting was
regularly adjourned by Chairman Martin at 9:20 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
W. H. DIEDERICHSEN
