Public Comments This is the opportunity for members of the public to address the Commission regarding items not otherwise on the agenda. The Ralph M. Brown Act prohibits the Commission from acting on any matter that is not on the agenda. The Chairperson may limit speakers to three minutes each. 5. New Business A. Jazz by the Bay 6. Reports A. Spring tree planting completed. 2. Restroom projects at Ray Park and Cuernavaca Park are near completion. 3. Athletic fields were aerated. 4. Improvements to Parks Yard lunchroom are nearing completion. 5. Washington Park playground project - Requests for Proposals will be sent out shortly. Recreation Division 1. Special Events - Secured $4,000 sponsorship from US Filter for Music in the Park series. 2. Teens — Two trips included Ski Trip - 50 teens and Warriors Game - 10 teens 3. Classes — Solid enrollment across the board, including: My First Art (70 preschoolers), Pre -Ballet (16 students), Get Up and Dance (13 students), Adult Artists' Workshop (16 students) Painting classes (71 Students) - Fall Totals: 3,818 total enrollments in 454 classes. 4. Aquatics — While the pool was closed for approximately two weeks due to boiler problems, many maintenance projects and tasks were completed. A Lifeguard Training Course, used to recruit summer lifeguards and swim instructors, began this month with 12 students. 5. BIS Sports - 120 sixth graders participated in BIS 6t1i grade basketball (compared with 140 in 2002); 6 boys and 6 girls teams of 10 players each. Recreation Coordinator Dave Barry secured approximately $5,000 in donations from the BIS Student Council for tournament fees, awards, and championship banners. 6. Senior - Trip to The Producers was a big success with 45 people enjoying the show. Upcoming activities: April 19 Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt in Washington Park.
