GRANTING A VARIANCE IN THL USE OF LOT 5,
BLOCK P, EASTON ADDITION NO. ONE
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame,
and it is hereby ordered that Lot 5, Block 5, Easton Addition
No. 1 in the City of Burlingame, may be used for the construc-
tion of a building to be occupied by the Government of the
United States as a Postoffice, upon the condition that the
said building shall conform to the set back requirements of the
City and upon the further condition that whenever the building
on the said premises shall not be used as a Postoffice building,
the permit herein granted shall cease and the premises shall
them revert to the original zone, to -wit "apartment."

I, Herbert K. White, City Clerk, do hereby certify that
the foregoing rdsolution was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council held on the 23rd of January, 1952, and adopted
thereafter by the following vote:

F I N D I N G S
Of the City Council upon the application of Joyce Vv. Farr
and Esther Lynden Farr, for a variance in use of Lot 5,
Block 5, Easton Addition 1.1To. 1.
WHEREAS, Joyce Farr and hsther Lynden Farr, on
December 15, 1951, filed a petition with the City Council of
the City of Burlingame, requesting the City Council to grant a
variance in the use of Lot 5, Block 5, Easton Addition No. 1,
so that the said lot may be used for commercial purposes.
It appearing that the City Clerk, as required by law.,
referred the said petition to the Planning Commission of the
City and gave the notice required by the Ordinance Code.
And it appearing that the planning Commission of the City
held a hearing on this petition. on December 27, 1951, and con-
tinued said hearing until January 8, 1952. That after the
hearing the Planning Commission recommended to the City Council
that a variance in the use of said property be granted to the
petitioners upon the condition that the said property be used
as a branch for the United States Postoffice in the Broadway
area; that the building to be constructed for such branch
postoffide-should comply with the set back requirements of the
City, and that the variance in use of said property should be
discontinued whenever the property was used for purposes other
than postoffice purposes;
And it further appearing that the findings of the Planning
Commission were filed with the City Council within the time and
manner as required by Ordinance Code and that the City Council
thereafter at the Meeting held on January 12, 1952, fixed
January 23, 1952, and the Council Chamber in the City Hall of
the Bt�T of Burlingame as the time and place when a public
hearing would be heard before the City Council;
and directed the City Clerk to give the notice required by the
code.
That on January 23, 1952, that at the time and place
fixed for the public hearing of the petition before the City
Council and where no persons present who opposed the granting
of the application or opposed the recommendation of the
Planning Commission of the City, but on the other nand, there
were persons present who urged the City Council to grant the
application upon the ground that the planned use of the
property would be of great convenience to the residents of the
City living in the Broadway area, and good reason appearing
therefor.
A resolution was introduced and unanimously adopted by
the Council present, ordering that the petition be granted
upon the condition that the proposed building to be constructed
upon the property shall conform to the set back requirements
and upon the following condition that whenever the property is
abandoned as a use for an United States Postoffice, that the
permission to use the premises for any other purpose shall
cease and terminate and that the property shall then revert to
its original zone,
