HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 068-1952RESOLUTION NO. 68-52 ACCEPTING THE OFFER AND EMPLOYING HARRY N. JENKS AS CONSULTING ENGINEER FOR THE CITY OF BURLINGAME WHEREAS, Harry N. Jenks, on August 12, 1952, submitted to the Council a report on a proposed system of improvements for the Sewerage System of the City, making certain recommendations therein, and particularly designated as Projects No. 1, 2, 3 and 4; and WHEREAS, the City Council now deems it necessary to begin some of the work as recommended in said report and the said Harry Jenks having, on September 12, 1952, submitted his offer to act as Consulting Engineer in connection with some of the work to be done, and the City Council now desires to avail Itself of the offer contained in said letter of September 12, 1952; IT IS NOW RESOLVED and hereby ordered that the offer of Harry N. Jenks as stated in his letter to the City Council, dated September 12, 1952, attached 'hereto be, and the same is hereby accepted according to all of its terms. BE IT FURTHER RESOLV O that the Mayor be, and he is hereby authorized to execute any documents necessary, including a contract, for the purpose of making the employment of harry N. Jenks, Consulting Sanitary Engineer, to serve as Consulting Engineer on the final design and preparation of plans and specifications for the proposed construction of relief sewers and pumping plant revisions. The 52,�� fee asked by ,r. Jenks for this work is within the ordinary fee bracket for this type of engineering services. It is recommended to your honorable body that Idir. (b) I will prepare detailed of the pipe lines and appurtenances. (e) Throughout the period of construction, the City will Provide its own engineering supervision and inspection; and I will col- laborate with the City Engineer in a consulting capacity, and will periodically inspect the progress of the work to the end that the plans and specifications shall be fully complied with. Upon being duly authorized by the City Council, I will ren- der the foregoing engineering services for the following fees and schedule of payments: SCHEDULE (A). For the work of Items (a) to (d) inclusive, a total fee amounting to Five and, One -Half Per Cent. (5k%) of the construc- tion costs of the project. Payments to be made in two monthly install- ments in proportion to the progress of the work; balance upon completion of the plans and specifications and their adoption by the City Council. SCHEDULE (B). Consultation during construction (Item (E)), an engineering retainer of 75.00 per month for the period of construction.
