DIRECTING THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY Or BURLINGAME TO STUDY AND CONSIDER
THE ZONING ORDINANCES AND REGULATIONS Or
THE CITY AND THEREAFTER TO REPORT TO THE
CITY COUNCIL THE RESULT OF SUCH STUDY AND
CONS IDERATION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Burlingame
deem it to be for the best interest of the City that the Planning
Commission of the City study and consider the existing zoning
ordinances and regulations and if in their wisdom and discretion
they deem it advisable that changes, alterations, modifications
and repeals of any of thesaid ordinances and regulations should
be had that the said Planning Commission so report to the City
Council; and
WHEREAS, in the study above outlined the City should be
divided into districts of the number, shape, and area best suited
to the City for the purpose of desirable planning by designating
or redesignating:
(a) The class of use that is excluded or subjected to
special regulations;
(b) The uses for which buildings may not be erected or
altered.
(c) The class of use which is permitted; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems the following factors
should be considered:
(a) The character of the district and its peculiar
suitability for particular uses; and the character of buildings
already erected in the district;
(b) The conservation of property values;
(c) The direction of building development according to
a well considered plan, and the use to which the land may be put;
and
WHEREAS, the Council also requests a report and a
recommendation for imposition of reasonable regulations and limit-
ations upon the height and bulk of buildings, and regulate and
determine the areas of yards, courts and other open spaces, with
due regard to the nature of the use and occupancy;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Burlingame does hereby order and direct that the Planning Commis-
sion of the City study, consider, report and recommend to the
City Council such alterations, modifications and changes in the
existing zoning ordinances and regulations of the City as in
their best judgment may be suitable for adoption into ordinance
form for better zoning and planning in the City of Burlingame and
to make such report as soon as reasonable time will permit after
public hearings have been had for such proposed changes, altera-
tions or modifications as required by law.

the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council held on the 20th day of ypril, 1953, and adopted
thereafter by the following vote:
