REPORTSIHANDOUTS
Staff Reports
1. Monthly Report — Skeels reported that the work on the Washington Park small diamond
dugout is moving along nicely.
2. Washington Park Tennis Court Lights — Follow Up Actions; Skeels reported one of the two
coin boxes is awaiting a part (only the box near the practice court is operable at this time) and
that the timing of the shutoff for the lights has been resolved. The ten o'clock end time seems
to be working fine.
3. Temporary Signage in City Parks — City Council Direction — to be discussed at the December
Commission meeting.
4. Correspondence — Letter from Susan Price to Commission regarding the inadequate warning
time given to the players that more coin was needed or the lights were going to turn off.
Skeels reported that this issue has been resolved since the receipt of the letter.
Commissioner Reports
Commissioner Fisher encouraged the visiting commission applicants by letting them know as an
outgoing commissioner that his experience has been fulfilling and hopes the same for them.
Commissioner Eaton noted the condition of the grass on lower Bayside field being "patchy" and
inquired of Skeels what could be done to amend the damage. Skeels noted Supervisor Disco of
the Parks Division has seeded the area and with the recent rains expects "grow back" of the grass
in the area.
Commissioner Shanus inquired of Skeels the timetable for replacement of the Bayside sign at the
entrance to the park. Skeels reported that Supervisor Disco was looking into the replacement of
the sign.
Shanus further inquired as the use of Washington Park Baseball field by the San Mateo Union
High School District, will the BHS team be using the field and are the financial arrangements
still the same? Skeels confirmed the BHS team will be using the field and the financial
arrangements between the City and the District remain unchanged.
