OLD BUSINESS
A. Foundation Formation — Skeels reviewed the commission has seen presentations of three
foundations — Burlingame Community for Education, the Library Foundation and San Carlos Parks
& Recreation Foundation. Commission gave consensus of support of the formation of a foundation
for the Parks & Recreation Department. Commissioner Shanus stated the commission understands
that there will be city staff time and efforts involved over and above the foundation. Skeels will
investigate further on how to form a foundation and although there will be support by the City some
one other than the commission need to take the lead on forming the foundation. Skeels stated that if
any commissioners would like to be on the foundation, they may participate. Commissioner Griffith
distributed a handout of a summary of the steps taken when forming a foundation.
B. Golf Center Conceptual Plan-- Final Review - Skeels reported the receipt of the sketch plans
as the commission discussed. Skeels had shown them to VB Golf to garner thoughts on how it
worked for them. VB noted they would be able to function on even less space. They suggested
moving the tee boxes back further to allow more room for a different placement of the proposed
second field. Commission like the idea of rotating the second field (if the grading allows) and
Skeels will take the change to the architect and report back at the September meeting.
