Regular Meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission
Thursday, May 17, 2012
The regular meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission was called to order by
Chair Hesselgren at 7:06 pm at Burlingame City Hall, 501 Primrose Ave., Burlingame.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Griffith, Lau, Eaton
Commissioners Absent: Hesselgren, Baum, Bullotti, Castner-Paine
Staff Present: Director Glomstad; Administrative Secretary Helley
Others Present: Russ Cohen
MINUTES
The Minutes of the April 19, 2012 regular meeting were not approved due to lack of quorum.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Russ Cohen, Burlingame, is interested in participating in the task force the Council is forming to
investigate options for dog parks or how to address the dog off leash issue. Director Glomstad
explained the task force was comprised of two Parks & Recreation Commissioners, two Council
members, a representative from the humane society, herself and Parks Supervisor Bob Disco.
The first meeting will be June 4th

NEW BUSINESS
A. Recreation Center Behavior Policy — Glomstad explained the initiated her bringing this to
Commission was a problem with dogs inside the building that are not friendly. Glomstad
reached out to the library for a copy of their policy on behavior in the facility. The policy
presented to commission is similar to that of the library. Commissioner Eaton suggested the
policy be streamlined as it seems verbose. Glomstad will present the policy to the city
manager for review and bring the policy back to Commission for recommendation.

2. Field Use Policy Review — Glomstad reported the third meeting with the user groups went
well. Another meeting has been scheduled.

Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission is scheduled to be held on Thursday,
June 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Burlingame City Hall.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:40 pm.
