'WhEREAS, the StateEmployees' Retirement Law nd;rmits the participation of public
agencies and their employees in the State Employees' Retirement System
by the execution of a contract, and sets forth the procedure by which
said public agencies may elect to subject themselves and their employees
to amendments to said Law; and
IrJIiEREAS, one step in said procedure is the adoption by the legislative body of
the public agency of a resolution givin ; notice of its intention to
approve an amendment to said contract, which resolution shall contain
a summ.-ry of the changes proposed in said' contract; and
1WEEREAS, the followinf, is a statement of the proposed change:

gives, and it does hereby give notice of intention to approve an
amendment to contract between said CITY COUNCIL and the Board of
Administration of t'iie State Employees' Retirement System, a copy of said
amendment being attached hereto, marked "Exhibit A", and by this
reference made a part hereof.

The Board of Administration., State ::mployees' Katirerarnt 3yetem, hereinafter
referrea to as hoard, and the City Council of the City of Burlingame, hereinafter
referred to as Public Agency, having entered into a contract ender date of July
6, 1942, effective July 1, 1942, and as aanded effective February 1, 195h and
July 10 1956, which provides for participation of Public i.rency in said System,
Board and ?ublic Agency hereby agree as follows:
A. The following phrase is added to the sentence which const.t.;tes Para-
