Date: 05.16.00 Margar t Monroe, City Planner RESOLUTION APPROVING CATEGORICAL EXEMPTION AND SIGN EXCEPTIONS RESOLUTION-134-2000 RESOLVED, by the Planning Commission of the City of Burlingame that: WHEREAS, a categorical exemption has been proposed and application has been made for sign exceptions for sign height, letter height, and area of signs to allows signs on the primary and secondary frontages at 1705 Murchison Drive, zoned C-3; APN: 025-121-240; California Teachers Association, propertX owner; WHEREAS, said matters were heard by the Planning Commission of the City of Burlingame on May 8, 2000, at which time it reviewed and considered the staff report and all other written materials and testimony presented at said hearing; NOW, THEREFORE, it is RESOLVED and DETERMINED by this Planning Commission that: 1. On the basis of the Initial Study and the documents submitted and reviewed, and comments received and addressed by this commission, it is hereby found that there is no substantial evidence that the project set forth above will have a significant effect on the environment, and Categorical Exemption, per Article 19. Section: 15311 - Accessory Structures, Class 11, construction or placement of minor structures accessory(appurtenant to) existing commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities, including but not limited to (a) on-premise signs is hereby approved. 2. Said sign exceptions are approved, subject to the conditions set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto. Findings for such sign exceptions are as set forth in the minutes and recording of said meeting. 3. It is further directed that a certified copy of this resolution be recorde i the official r cords of the County of San Mateo. C AIRMAN I, Ann Keighran, Secretary of the Planning Commission of the City of Burlingame, do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Planning Commission held on the 8th day ofMay' 2000 , by the following vote: AYES: COMMISSIONERS: BOJUES, DEAL, KEIGHRAY, VISTICA AND OSTERLING NOES: COMMISSIONERS: NONE ABSENT: COMMISSIONERS: DREILING AND LUZURIAGA 0, 4,L SECRETAY IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII 06/06/2000 20002 11.46A 7 EXHIBIT "A" Conditions of approval for categorical exemption and sign exceptions. 1705 MURCHISON DRIVE effective May 15, 2000 1. that the signs shall be installed as shown on the plans submitted to the Planning Department and date stamped March 31, 2000 (81/2" x 11" visual simulation and photo #6 of 100 SF wall sign), April 14, 2000 (building elevation, sign#6, 100 SF wall sign only), and date stamped May 1, 2000 (81/2" x 11" site plan, 9 SF ground sign visual simulation and ground sign/planter dimensions),- 2. imensions);2. that the CTA logo ground sign(sign#1) facing Magnolia Drive, the only illuminated sign on the site, shall be externally lit only between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., and the light cone shall be focused onto the site; a suitable timer shall be placed on the lighting and shall be maintained in good repair; 3. that any increase in the sign area, height, number or letter height of the signs on the primary or secondary frontages shall require an amendment to this sign exception; 4. that the temporary CTA logo wall sign located at the entrance on Murchison Drive shall be removed prior to issuance of a building permit for the approved signs; and 5. that the project shall meet all the requirements of the municipal code and of the 1998 edition California Building and Fire Codes as amended by the City of Burlingame.
