. RESOLUTION APPROVING CATEGORICAL EXEMPTION AND SIGN EXCEPTION
RESOLUTION-216-2000
RESOLVED, by the Planning Commission of the City of Burlingame that:
WHEREAS, a categorical exemption has been proposed and application has been made for asign
exception for the number and area of signs on the primary frontage at 701 California Drive,zoned C-2 APN•
029-053-160: 701 California Drive LLC property owner;
WHEREAS, said matters were heard by the Planning Commission of the City of Burlingame on
December 11, 2000,at which time it reviewed and considered the staff report and all other written materials
and testimony presented at said hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, it is RESOLVED and DETERMINED by this Planning Commission that:
1. On the basis of the Initial Study and the documents submitted and reviewed, and comments
received and addressed by this commission, it is hereby found that there is no substantial evidence that the
project set forth above will have a significant effect on the environment, and Categorical Exemption, per
Article 19. Categorically Exempt per Section: 15311 - Accessoy Structures, Class 11, construction or
placement of minor structures accessory (appurtenant to) existing commercial, industrial, or institutional
facilities, including but not limited to (a) on-premise signs, is hereby approved.
2. Said sign exception is approved, subject to the conditions set forth in Exhibit "A" attached
hereto. Findings for such sign exception are as set forth in the minutes and recording of said meeting.
3. It is further directed that a certified copy of this resolution b recorded in the official records
of the County of San Mateo.

held on the 11 th day of December, 2000 , by the following vote:

Conditions of approval for categorical exemption and sign exception.
701 CALIFORNIA DRIVE
effective December 18,2000
1. that the signs shall be installed as shown on the plans submitted to the Planning Department and date
stamped October 4, 2000 (8%2" x 14"), and date stamped December 3, 2000 (81/2" x 11" color
rendering);
2. that the maximum height of the lettering on each face of the sign shall be 6 inches at the location as
shown on the plans submitted and approved;
3. that there shall be no signage added on the secondary frontage of this site without review by the
Planning Commission and an amendment to this sign permit;
4. that any increase in the number or area of the signs on the primary frontage shall require an
amendment to this sign exception;
5. that each of the two blade signs on the primary frontage shall be attached to the building by a solid
rod at the top and bottom of the blade to prevent flapping in the wind;
6. that the applicant shall be responsible for replacing the blade signs to the same or lesser dimensions
approved with this sign exception when the blade signs become damaged, tattered or illegible;
7. that all banner signs and signs without a sign permit on this building shall be removed within 10 days
of the date action is taken on this sign exception application; and
8. that the project shall meet all the requirements of the municipal code and of the 1998 edition
California Building and Fire Codes as amended by the City of Burlingame.
