URGING THE GOVERNOR TO INCLUDE LEGISLATION ON THE
MATTER OF MASS TRANSIT IN THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO
IN HIS PROCLAMATION CALLING THE 1964 EXTRAORDINARY
SESSION OF THE LEGISLATURE
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame,
'California, that:
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the members of this City Council
lit is of the utmost necessity that facilities be acquired, con-

Istructed, and maintained within the County of San Mateo on a
!county -wide basis for a mass transit system within and between
lthe metropolitan areas of the county; and
WHEREAS, by reason of the numerous separate municipal
corporations and unincorporated populated areas in the County
of San Mateo the establishment of a mass transit system is not
possible under existing legislation, and new legislation for
this purpose is, therefore, urgently needed; and
WHEREAS, this City Council finds it necessary and desirable
to urge the inclusion of an item concerning mass transit in the
County of San Mateo in the Proclamation for the 1964 Extraordinary
Session of the Legislature of the State of California;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, FOUND, ORDERED AND
DETERMINED as follows:
(1) That the Honorable Edmund G. Brown, as Governor of the
State of California, is urged by the City Council of the City
of Burlingame, California, to include in the Proclamation for
the 1964 Extraordinary Session of the Legislature an item
concerning mass transit in the County of San Mateo,
(2) That the City Clerk of the City of Burlingame be, and
he is hereby, authorized and directed to send certified copies

of this Resolution to Edmund G. Brown, Governor of the State of
California, to Senator Richard J. Dolwig, and to Assemblymen
Carl A. Britschgi and Leo J. Ryan.

I, Herbert K. White, City Clerk of the City of Burlingame,
do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was introduced
at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 5th day
of January, 1964, and adopted thereafter by the following vote:

Noes: Councilmen: Martin
Absent Councilmen: None
