FROM THE FLOOR Speakers may address the Commission concerning any matter over which the Commission has jurisdiction or of which it may take cognizance that is not on the agenda. Additional public comments on agenda action items will be heard when the Commission takes up those items. The Ralph M. Brown Act (the State local agency open meeting law) prohibits the Commission from acting on any matter that is not on the agenda. Speakers are asked to fill out a "request to speak" card located on the table by the door and hand it to staff, although provision of name, address or other identifying information is optional. Speakers are limited to three minutes each, although the Commission may adjust the time limit in light of the number of anticipated speakers. V. BURLINGAME BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION June 2, 2016 The regularly scheduled meeting of the Beautification Commission was called to order at 6:30 pm by Commissioner McQuaide. ROLL CALL Present: Commissioner McQuaide, Hunt, Hinckle, Kirchner and Kearney Absent: None Staff: Parks and Recreation Director Glomstad, City Arborist Disco and Recording Secretary Borba MINUTES Commissioner Kearney requested an address change to the minutes to reflect "The property owners at 1157 Cambridge Road notified the City that they will begin the process of trimming the tree." Motion to approve the amended May 5t1i minutes was made by Commissioner Hinckle, motion was seconded by Commissioner Hunt and unanimously approved. CORRESPONDENCE None PUBLIC COMMENT None OLD BUSINESS 1. 2016 Business Landscape Award — Nominations The Commissioners will review the nominations for the 2016 Business Landscape Award and will be prepared to vote at the next meeting. Commissioner Kirchner passed out a flyer for the Landscape Award that included past winners. NEW BUSINESS 1. Commissioner appointment to the ECR Stakeholder/Task Force Committee Director Glomstad was asked by the Public Works Director Murtuza to appoint a member of the BBC to the ECR Stakeholder/Task force Committee. Commission Chair McQuaide appointed Commissioner Kirchner. REPORTS 1. City Arborist There is new landscaping at the Police Department. The Parks Crew installed sustainable landscape. Arborist Disco informed the Commission that he removed the Tristania conferta `Brisbane Box' off the Official Street Tree Planting List. The trees grow with a significant lean due to their large heavy canopy. Arborist Disco made a change to the Themed Block List on McDonald Way, replacement planting will now be a Red Maple since the majority of the trees on the block are already Red Maples. 2. Commissioner Kirchner Commissioner Kirchner asked if we lost any limbs or trees in the wind storm last week. Arborist Disco reported no trees and only a few limbs. 3. Commissioner Hinckle None 4. Commissioner McQuaide None 5. Commissioner Hunt None 6. Commissioner Kearney None The next Beautification Commission meeting is July 7, 2016.
