IV. FROM THE FLOOR Speakers may address the Commission concerning any matter over which the
Commission has jurisdiction or of which it may take cognizance that is not on the agenda. Additional public comments
on agenda action items will be heard when the Commission takes up those items. The Ralph M. Brown Act (the State
local agency open meeting law) prohibits the Commission from acting on any matter that is not on the agenda.
Speakers are asked to fill out a "request to speak" card located on the table by the door and hand it to staff, although
provision of name, address or other identifying information is optional. Speakers are limited to three minutes each,
although the Commission may adjust the time limit in light of the number of anticipated speakers.

BURLINGAME BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Beautification Commission was called to order at 6:30 pm by Chairperson
Hinckle.
ROLL CALL
Present: Chairperson Hinckle, Commissioners Hunt, McQuaide and Kirchner.
Absent: Commissioner Dittman
Staff: Parks & Recreation Director Glomstad, Parks Supervisor/Arborist Disco and Recording Secretary
Harvey.
MINUTES
Minutes of the October 2, 2014 meeting were approved.

OLD BUSINESS
1. Update on Floribunda/El Camino Trees — Jennifer Pfaff
Jennifer Pfaff spoke to the Commissioners giving them an update on the Caltrans SR82 at Floribunda
intersection safety improvement project. She encouraged all Burlingame residents to write letters to
Caltrans regarding this intersection.
2. Commissioners Reports — Comparison of Ordinances
The Commissioners turned in there comparisons to Karlene Harvey who will gather all the information and
combine it with what has already put together to form a draft of the Urban Reforestation and Tree
Protection Ordinance that will be submitted to Public Planning and the City Attorney for review.
3. 2015 Business Landscape Award
Commissioner Hunt is the 2015 Chair.

REPORTS
1. Parks Supervisor/City Arborist
a. Update on 3 Toledo Court — The Survey showed that all trees trimmed behind the property at 3 Toledo
Court are City trees. The City Attorney will be contacting the property owner. The two independent
Arborist reports say the trees will recover but some remedial work will need to be done.
b. Redwood Removal on Drake/Sanchez — One of the two City owned Redwood trees on Drake will be
removed. The tree's trunk has structural problems and is leaning towards the house.
c. Gingko's on Bayswater — The Gingko at 38 Dwight will be remove due to excess fruiting which causes
a slipping hazard and foul smell. The Property Owner at 501 Bayswater has opted to keep her tree.

Commissioner Hinckle reported that she enjoyed attending the ribbon cutting for Burlingame
Avenue.
4. Commissioner Krichner
Commissioner Kirchner requested information on swings in trees.

Absent
The next Beautification Commission meeting is December 4, 2014. There being no further business, the
meeting adjourned at 8:20pm.
