RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME URGING
SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 42 ON THE MARCH 5, 2002 BALLOT TO PROVIDE
SUSTAINED FUNDING OF TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS
WHEREAS, the California Legislature has placed Proposition 42 on the March 5, 2002,
ballot; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 42 would amend the State Constitution to require gasoline sales
taxes to fund transportation purposes in the State; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 42 would guarantee a certain percentage of these sales taxes to
local governments for repair, reconstruction, and improvement of local transportation systems;
and
WHEREAS, Proposition 42 will require an annual audit to ensure complaince with the
requirements of the law,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. The City Council urges citizens to vote in favor of Proposition 42 to provide sustained
funding for transportation purposes in the State.
