HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 066-1968(Original to RESOLUTION N0. 66-68 COMMENDING GUITTARD CHOCOLATE COMPANY ON THE CENTENNIAL OF ITS FOUNDING WHEREAS, ETIENNE GUITTARD, a gold seeker in the days of California's celebrated rush for gold, remained in California to establish the GUITTARD CHOCOLATE COMPANY in San Francisco in the year 1868; and WHEREAS, said GUITTARD CHOCOLATE COMPANY has since the date of its founding remained continuously in business as a manu- facturer and purveyor of chocolate of the highest quality andhas now expanded its operations and distribution to include the eleven (11) Western states of the United States of America and has made the GUITTARD name synonymous with chocolate products of the very highest quality; and W'HEPEAS, GUITTARD CHOCOLATE COMPANY, in 1955, removed its main plant and Ueneral offices from San Francisco to the City of Burlingame as a pioneer establishment in the City of Burlingame's then newly created light industrial area; and WHEREAS, the street upon which the main plant and gen- deal offices have been erected is named Wittard Road in honor of the founder of the GUITTARD CHOCOLATE COMPANY, ETIENNE GUITTARD. NOW. THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUN- CIL OF TN'3 CITY OF BURLINGAIT that the GUITTARD CHOCOLATE COMPANY be commended and congratulated upon the centennial of its founding and upon the pre-eminence of its product within its marketing area BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of theCity of Burlingame extends to the GUITTARD CHOCOLATE COMPANY every wish for its continued success and recognition as a distributor of high quality food products during this, the second century of its existence. �v or -1- I, HERBERT K.
