DIRECTING THE PURCHASE OF A BOAT, MOTOR AND
EQUIPMENT FOR THE SAMPLING OF WATERS AS RE-
QUIRED BY REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL
BOARD NO. 2
WASTE WATER TREATMENT AND RECLAMATION WORKS

WHEREAS, pursuant to §§13055 and 13055.1 of the Water
Code of the State of California and Resolution No. 67-51 adopted
by the San Francisco Bay Water Quality Control Board on October
19, 1967, a Self -Monitoring Program for Sampling, Analyses and
Observations have been adopted for the City of Burlingame to be-
come effective 10 days after the completion of the construction
of its secondary sewage treatment facilities; and
WHEREAS, construction of said facilities is expected to
be completed in the very near future; and
WHEREAS, said program of sampling and analyses requires
the taking of samples of water from San Francisco Bay for analysis
both on a periodic basis and at random, and at distances from the
point of discharge from said sewage treatment facilities ranging
from 20 feet to 2,000 feet, and at water depths of not less than
3 feet; and
WHEREAS, the only feasible method of collecting and pre-
serving the required samples of water from San Francisco Bay at
the times and places required by said self -monitoring program is
by boat,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BURLINGAME DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND ORDER that:
1. The City Manager shall purchase a suitable boat
powered by outboard motor and suitably equipped to take samples of
water from San Francisco Bay in conformity with the requirements
of the Regional Water Quality Control Board No. 2, at a cost not
to exceed $1,000.00.

2. This boat shall be used for the sole purpose of
monitoring the receiving waters of the Sewage Treatment Plant in
the Bay and for no other purpose.
3. The City Manager shall make application to the Uni
States Department of the Interior, Federal Water Pollution Contro
Administration, for a grant to assist in the purchase of such
boat, Outboard motor and equipment as a supplement to its grant
of assistance for the construction of said sewage treatment plant
and reclamation works.
4. The City Clerk shall provide such number of certif
copies of this resolution and of the Self -Monitoring Program and
Schedule for Sampling, Analyses 9nd Observations for City of
Burlingame adopted by the Regional Water Quality Control Board
No. 2 as may be necessary or convenitent in the implementation
of said application.
