COMMENDING THE HONORABLE LOUIS B. DEMATTEIS
UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT
AS A JUDGE OF
THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO
WHEREAS, the Honorable LOUIS B. DEMATTEIS, Judge of the
Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County
of San Mateo, is voluntarily retiring from that position upon
the expiration of his present term of office; and
WHEREAS, he is a life-long resident of San Mateo
County, having resided in the City Of Redwood City during the
larger portion of his life, and having received his primary and
secondary education in the public schools of. that City; and
WHEREAS, except for service in the United States Navy
during World War II and a brief period of private practice of the
law immediately thereafter, his entire professional life has been
devoted to the public service in San Mateo County, both appointi
and elective, as Deputy District Attorney, Assistant District
Attorney, District Attorney and Judge of the Superior Court; and
WHEREAS, as a citizen, lawyer and judicial officer he
has actively participated in the explosive growth of San Mateo
County during the past two decades and more, and particularly in
the consequent changes in and expansion of its judicial system;
and
WHEREAS, he has earned and enjoys the respect of the
citizens of Burlingame in particular and of the citizens of San

Mateo County in general, for the efficient, capable and under-
standing manner in which he has ever conducted himself in
judicial office.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City
Council of the City of Burlingame, and it does hereby order that
the Honorable LOUIS B. DEMATTEIS be, and he is hereby, commended
and congratulated upon the occasion of his retirement as Judge of
the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the
County of San Mateo, for his long and dedicated service to the
citizens of the City of Burlingame and to all of the citizens of
San Mateo County, and for the efficient and learned performance of
his duties in the office of the District Attorney and upon the
bench.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that it is the wish of the Council,
as a body, and of the Councilmen individually, that his retirement)
years be long, healthy and happy.

Burlingame, do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the
