AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE SAN
MATEO UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT -- DRUG ABUSE
AND COUNSELING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame desires to undertake
support of Drug Abuse Education and Counseling in the San Mateo
Union High School District to be funded, in part, from funds made
available through the omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act
of 1968 administered by the California Council on Criminal Justice;
WHEREAS, the California Council on Criminal Justice has
consented to fund the above project and the City of Burlingame has
agreed to accept the grant and has designated Dr. Edward T. Walsh,
Assistant Superintendent of the San Mateo Union High School Dis-
trict to execute on behalf of the City of Burlingame the contract
for the grant for law enforcement purposes;
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame has agreed to sub -con
the operation of this project to the San Mateo Union High School
District and the District has agreed to provide the required
matching funds to said project;
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame has resolved that grant
funds received shall not be used to supplant ongoing law enforce-
ment nor education expenditures.
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame,
California, and this Council does hereby FIND, ORDER AND
as follows:
1. The public interest and convenience require executi
of the agreement cited in the title above.
2. The City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to
sign said agreement for and on behalf of the City of Burlingame.
3. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and instructed to
attest such signature.

do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was introduced at
a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 18th day of
October, 1971, and adopted thereafter by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Amstrup, Crosby, Mangini, Martin.
NOES: COUNCILMEN:: None.
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Johnson.
