HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 069-1972RESOLUTION NO. r--72 ENDORSING AMENDMENT TO SAN MATEO COUNTY CHARTER, PROPOSITION A, PARK AND OPEN SPACEACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT WHEREAS, pursuant to recommendation of the San Mateo County Regional Planning Commission, after investigations and studies, and the recommendations of other governmental or public agencies and of private citizens, the Board of Supervisors has caused Proposition A, a proposed San Mateo County Charter amend- ment, to be placed upon the ballot for vote of the electorate of San Mateo County at the general election to be held on November 7, 1972; and WHEREAS, the proposed amendment provides for the estab- lishment of a county park and open space acquisition and develop- ment fund in the county treasury; and WHEREAS, such fund, if established, will allow for the acquisition and development of real properties for beaches, parks and open space within the county over a period of 10 years; and WHEREAS, opportunities for picnicking, swimming, camp- ing, hiking, riding, nature study, and similar recreational and educational activities will be increased by the acquisition of additional land areas for these purposes; and WHEREAS, regional parks, coastal beaches and other recreational areas are essential to the people of San Mateo County and to all of the people of the San Francisco Bay Area; and WHEREAS, preservation of existing areas for recreational - 1 - uses within the confines of economic feasability appears neces- sary and convenient to the public good. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME RESOLVES that it approves and supports said Proposi- tion A, and recommends its adoption at the polls. 2q _mS �� c ,, l R I, HERBERT K.
