AMENDING RULE XVII - HOLIDAYS - CIVIL SERVICE
RULES AND REGULATIONS
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 6700, setting forth
the holidays in the State of California has been amended,
operative January 1, 1971,
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Burlingame
that in order to conform substantially to holidays as they
obtain in the State of California, Rule XVII - HOLIDAYS -
as set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the Burlingame
Civil Service Commission is amended to read and provide as
follows:
"RULE XVII - HOLIDAYS
The following are considered as official holidays for
all employees of the City of Burlingame:
January First
February Twelfth
Third Monday in February
Last Monday in May
July Fourth
First Monday in September
September Ninth
Second Monday in October
Fourth Monday in October
Fourth Thursday in November
1/2 December Twenty-fourth
December Twenty-fifth
New Years Day
Lincoln's Birthday
Washington's Birthday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Admission Day
Columbus Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas
every day appointed by the President of the United States or
the Governor of this state for a public fast, thanksgiving
9'11 or holiday and every day pronounced as a National Day of
Mourning is a holiday when approved by the City Council.
1', If the First day of January, Twelfth day of February, Fourth day
of July or the Twenty-fifth day of December falls upon a
Saturday, the preceding Friday is a Holiday.
If the First day of January, Twelfth day of February, Fourth
day of July, Ninth day of September or the Twenty-fifth day
of December falls upon a Sunday, the following Monday is a
holiday.
When due to the requirements of the service it is necessary for
an employee to work on any of the above holidays, credit shall be
given and he shall be allowed subsequent time off for such work
or pay to compensate for such work in accordance with the
operational program of the department,"

I, HERBERT K. WHITE, City Clerk, do hereby certify that
the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council held on the 4th day of January, 1970,
and adopted thereafter by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Amstrup-Crosby-Johnson-Mangini-Martin.
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: None.
