RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO APPROVE AN
AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM
AND THE
CITY COUNCIL_
OF THE
CITY OF BURLINGAME
WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law permits the participation of public
agencies and their employees in the Public Employees' Retirement
System by the execution of a contract, and sets forth the procedure by
which said public agencies may elect to subject themselves and their
employees to amendments to said law; and
WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedure to amend this contract is the adop-
tion by the legislative body of the public agency of a resolution giving
notice of its intention to approve an amendment to said contract, which
resolution shall contain a summary of the change proposed in said con-
tract; and
WHEREAS, the following is a statement of the proposed change:
IN ADDITION TO THE EXISTING EXCLUSION, EXCLUDE
FIRE CADETS AND CROSSING GUARDS HIRED ON OR
AFTER MAY 11 1974.
RUN, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME
gives, and it does hereby give notice of intention to approve an
amendment to the contract between the CITY COUNCIL and the Board of
Administration of the Public Employees' Retirement System, a copy of
-said amendment being attached hereto, marked "Exhibit A" and by this
reference made a part hereof.

AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE OBIT A
BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM
AND THE
CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF BURLINGAME
The Board of Administration, Public Employees' Retirement System, hereinafter
referred to as Board and the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BUBLINGAME, hereinafter
referred to as Public Agency, having entered into a contract under date of July 6,
1942, effective July 1, 1942, and as amended effective February 1, 19547 July 19
1956, April 1, 1963, March 1, 1964, April 1, 1965, March 16, 19679 November 1, 1968,
September 1, 1970, and April 1, 1973, and as provided by Chapters 170 and 316,
Statutes of 1971, which provide for participation of Public Agency in said System,
Board and Public Agency hereby agree as follows:
A. The words "EXCLUDE FIRE CADETS AND CROSSING GUARDS HIRED ON OR AFTER
MAY 11 1974" shall be added to the existing exclusion and the follow-
ing employees shall be excluded from membership in the Retirement
System:
PLAYGROUND LEADERS HIRED ON OR AFTER MARCH 16, 1967
WHO ARE PAID ON AN HOURLY BASIS.
POLICE CADETS HIRED ON OR AFTER MARCH 16, 1967.
LIBRARY PAGES HIRED ON OR AFTER MARCH 167 1967.
FIRE CADETS AND CROSSING GUARDS HIRED ON OR AFTER MAY 11 1974.
B. This amendment shall be attached to said contract and shall become effec-
tive on the day of

Dear Mr. Schwalm:
We are enclosing two copies of Resolution of Intention (Form 122) to amend your
agency's contract to exclude Fire Cadets and Crossing Guards hired on or after
May 19 1974. Form ACT-12, Certification of Governing Body's Action is also en-
closed.
As soon as we receive one executed copy of the Resolution of Intention (with at-
tached exhibits) and Certification of Governing Body's Action (Form ACT-12), we
will forward additional copies of the amendment and the ordinance necessary to
complete your governing body's final action. That final action will require an
affirmative vote of the majority of your governing body and must be deferred for
at least twenty days after adoption of the Resolution of Intention.
Effective date of the amendment cannot be earlier than the effectivity of the
final action of your governing body.
