HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 002-19711 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 p RESOLUTION NO. 2 - 71 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME TO QUALIFY BURLINGAME FOR FEDERAL MUDSLIDE INSURANCE WHEREAS, the Burlingame City Council believes that mudslide insurance would be greatly beneficial to residents within our City; and WHEREAS, the Federal Insurance Administration is offering tection under its "emergency program" which would allow City residents to purchase insurance to cover mudslides; and WHEREAS, this Council would like to show its expression of interest by submitting the following information to the Federal Administration: Copies of official legislative or executive actions indicatin a local need for mudslide insurance and a desire to participa in the Federal Mudslide Insurance Program. A citation of the legal authority necessary for both State local actions. Copies of the authorities cited must accom the application. A summary of State and local public and private mudslide management regulatory measures, if any, which have been adopted for the area. This submission may be in any suitable form, but should list zoning and building codes, easements an( other corrective and preventive measures instituted in order to reduce mudslide damage. A map, in duplicate, delineating local mudslide -prone areas. An outline of the community's mudslide history and mudslide - prone characteristics. WHEREAS, this Council does give assurance of attempting futur compliance and pledges to submit the following assurances in the ,form of action to the Federal Insurance Administration, including: To recognize and duly evaluate mudslide hazards in all official actions relating to land use in the mudslide areas having special mudslide hazards. To enact by December 31, 1971, and maintain in force for area: having special mudslide hazards, adequate land use and contro: measures with effective enforcement provisions with the criteria set forth in Sub -part B of Section 1910 of your regulations. If necessary, to seek State enabling legislation conferring authority to enact land use and control measures designed to reduce the exposure of property to mudslide loss. To take such other official action as may be reasonably necessary to carry out the objectives of the program. Assisting the Administrator, at his request, in delineating the limits of the mudslide area, and having special mudslide hazard on available local maps of sufficient scale to identify the location of building sites. b. After mudslide insurance is made available, fur- nishing representatives of appropriate Federal or State agencies or of the National Flood Insurers Association information, if requested, concerning new or substantially improved structures within the area of special mudslide hazard. u/.c.�i� i d m& WILLIAM J., OSBY, Nb&OR I, Herbert K.
