REJECTING BIDS
BURLINGAME AVENUE FROM EL CAMINO REAL TO CALIFORNIA DRIVE
JOB NO. 5371
WHEREAS, the City Council has authorized an invita
of bids for new concrete curbs and gutters, exposed aggregate side
walks, brick cross walks, concrete planters, street signs and mis-
cellaneous plumbing and other work on Burlingame Avenue, between E
Camino Real and California Drive; and
WHEREAS, on January 11, 1972, all bids received were
opened before the City Clerk, the Director of Public Works, and
Ronald -A. Perner, the architect employed by the City to prepare
the plans and specifications for such works of public improvement;
and
WHEREAS, two (2) bids, and no more, were received and
opened, namely the bid of HUETTIG & SCHROMM, INC., a corporation,
in the base amount of $217,816.00; and the bid of WILLIAMS AND
BURROWS, a corporation, in the base amount of $279,463.00; and
WHEREAS, the architect's estimate was in the base
amount of $148,645.50, and each of the bids received and referred
to above were over 10% in excess of the architect's estimate; and
WHEREAS, the Notice to Contractors reserved the right
to the City to reject any and all bids;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND IT IS HEREBY OR-
DERED that all bids received for construction and installation of
said works of public improvement, and particularly the respective
bids of HUETTIG & SCHROMM, INC., a corporation, and of WILLIAMS
AND BURROWS, a corporation be, and the same are hereby, rejected.

that the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council held on the 17th day of January ,
1972, and adopted thereafter by the following vote:
