ABOLISHING CERTAIN POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame is the owner and operator of
Wastewater Treatment and Reclamation Works situated at 1103 Air-
ort Boulevard, said city; and
WHEREAS, City has entered into, or is about to enter into a
ritten contract with ENVIROTECH CORPORATION, a corporation, for
he maintenance and operation of said plant for a period commencin
pril 15, 1972, and ending June 30, 1973, which contract contains
rovisions for its renewal upon an annual basis after expiration o
he initial term; and
WHEREAS, certain positions in the Classified Service of the

Chief Disposal Plant Operator
Treatment Plant Laboratory Technician
Disposal Plant Operator
ere created and are filled exclusively for the purpose of main-
aining and operating said plant; and
WHEREAS, unexpended funds budgeted to pay wages of the per-
onnel presently filling said positions are needed as partial con-
ideration for the services to pay ENVIROTECH CORPORATION, and wil
of be available to pay the wages and other benefits of the per-
ons now holding such positions; and
WHEREAS, the need for such classifications will cease to ex-
st on April 15, 1972, by reason of the City's discontinuance of
he operation of said plant, except by contract;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
DES HEREBY ORDER AND DETERMINE:
1. The City of Burlingame will cease operating its Water-
aste Treatment Plant and Reclamation Works, except by contract,
n April 15, 1972;

2. As a result of the cessation of such operation, there
will be no need to continue the positions of:
Chief Disposal Plant Operator
Treatment Plant Laboratory Technician
Disposal Plant Operator
in the Classified Service of the City and the public interest,
convenience and necessity require the abolition of such classifica•
tions, and each of them. Said positions, and each of them, are
therefore hereby declared to be abolished.
3. The effective date of abolition of the positions of
Chief Disposal Plant Operator and
Treatment Plant Laboratory Technician
shall be April 15, 1972.
4. The effective date of abolition of the position of Dis-
posal Plant Operator shall be May 1, 1972.

the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council held on the 3rd day of April, 1972, and adopted
thereafter by the following vote:
