"DOC" BONFILIO, M.D. OPERATION--VIETNAM HOME FRONT WHEREAS, MARIE D. "DOC" BONFILIO, M.D., a resident of the City of Burlingame, California, and a duly licensed physician and surgeon engaged in the general practice of her profession, has, since February, 1969, personally operated Operation --Vietnam Home Front, from her home in said City; and WHEREAS, the operation consisted of collecting, packaging, wrapping, and mailing personal items of great utility and welcome items of food to the enlisted men of the armed forces of the United States serving in the forward combat areas in Vietnam where such items were not otherwise available; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bonfilio, has, in truth and in fact constituted such operation almost entirely in her own person despite endeavors to solicit the assistance and cooperation of others; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bonfilio sought successfully to direct such packages to men who otherwise received little or no remembrances from home; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bonfilio, has given a great amount of time, and has also made large expenditures of her personal funds in the implementations of her program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME, speaking for all of the citizens of the community, that MARIE D. "DOC" BONFILIO, M.D., be, and she is hereby commended for her unselfish sacrifices, for her zeal, for her patriotism, for her contributions to the morale of our 1 2 3 I 41 51I! 6 71 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 fighting men, and for her splendid exemplification of that solic- itude for the well-being of our fellow men to which her profession is dedicated.
