HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 053-1974RESOLUTION NO. 53 -74 REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF TIME TO COMPLETE CERTAIN REQUIRED ELEMENTS OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME GENERAL PLAN RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame, County of San Mateo, State of California, that WHEREAS, Section 65302.2 of the Government Code requires that every city and county shall prepare and adopt the seismic safety, noise, scenic highway and safety elements of the General Plan and that such elements be adopted within one year following adoption of guidelines by the Council on Intergovernmental Relations which date is September 20, 1974; and WHEREAS, the State Council on Intergovernmental Relations may in cases of extreme hardship extend the date for adopting such elements for a reasonable period of time; and WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame along with the County and most other cities of San Mateo County have embarked on a joint program to plan, formulate and adopt such elements of the General Plan; and WHEREAS, it would be impossible for this city to adopt such elements of the General Plan within the deadline date of September 20, 1974, and because it desires to act collectively to be sure that the elements are prepared efficiently and comprehen- sively; and WHEREAS, the county and the cities as well as the City - County Planning Task Force and the County Planning Department have - 1 - been advised by the various experts and qualified consultants that have been communicated with for the purpose of assisting with thes plans that it will be impossible to complete these elements by the September 20, 1974, deadline; and WHEREAS, in this joint effort the commitment of staff time to undertake the required work, including local inventories of existing hazards and potential disruptions of vital services, will cause great hardship unless an extension of time is granted. NOW, THEREFORE, this City Council does hereby: 1. Respectfully request that an extension of time to September 20, 1975, to complete the Seismic Safety, Safety, Scenic Highways, and Noise Elements of the General Plan be authorized by the Council on Intergovernmental Relations. 2. Direct that copies of this Resolution be sent to County of San Mateo to be forwarded to the Council on Intergovern-I mental Relations. YOR I, HERBERT K.
