HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 036-1974BURLINGAME CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION NO. 36-74 TO INITIATE A STUDY OF RECREATION AND PUBLIC LAND REQUIREMENTS WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame General Plan was adopted by the City Council October 20, 1969, by Resolution No. 87-69; which sets forth policies for the City's parks and open spaces; and WHEREAS, implementation procedures for the Open Space Element of the General Plan were adopted by the City Council June 4, 1973, by Resolution No. 40-73; and WHEREAS, that certain agreement executed by and between the Anza Pacific Corp. and the State of California acting by and through the State Lands Commission entitled "Boundary Settlement and Exchange Agreement - B.L.A. 131" on July 6, 1972, limits land uses to lawful public purposes and to public oriented facilities; and WHEREAS, the Z'berg-Collier Park Bond Act requires the City of Burlingame, if it decides to apply for state grant funds, to prepare and adopt a detailed plan for parks and recreation within the context of the City's present General Plan; and WHEREAS, most of the following major areas for recreation and public use are presently unclassified and there- fore subject to special use permit: 1. Bayside Environs 2. Mills Creek Environs Bayside Park Inner Lagoon Central Lagoon within the 46 acres of state property Public access easements along the shoreline Mills Canyon Park Lot 4 of Viewland Estates Burlingame Intermediate School sit Benjamin Franklin School site Ray Park and Lincoln School site j -1- 3. Burlingame Ave. Environs 4. Plaza Environs 5. Easton Creek Environs Washington Park Burlingame High School site Southern Pacific Depot cottage and garden Plaza Service Road Peninsula Hospital site Easton Creek Hoover School site NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT: 1. A study be initiated to identify the present needs and future requirements of the City's recreation areas and public lands. 2. The study shall include the Bayside areas of the City, Washington Park and Burlingame High School site, and such additional areas as Council may from time to time determine. MAYC I, HERBERT K.
