HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 026-1974RESOLUTION N0. 26- FIXING AND ESTABLISHING CLASSIFICATIONS, SALARIES AND RATES OF PAY OF EMPLOYEES IN THE CITY SERVICE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME The City Council of the City of Burlingame, California, does RESOLVE as follows: 1. The classifications of employees within the City Service of the City of Burlingame and their salaries, compensation or rates of pay, are hereby fixed and established as set forth in Exhibit A, effective March 1, 1974, attached to this Resolution by reference. 2. Employees shall be paid at the step in these exhibits in the range at which they are established. 3. Any Police Officer assigned to the duty of operating a solo motorcycle shall receive extra compensation of 5% of the basic Police Officer's pay, as hazard pay 4. The Police Officer assigned to duty as Inspector of Police, Detective, or Juvenile Officer shall receive extra compensation at the rate of seventy-five ($75.00) dollars per month. 5. The Fireman assigned to duty as Equipment Mechanic's Helper and Electrician's Helper shall receive extra compensation at the rate of fifty ($50.00) dollars per month. 6. The person designated to make a stenographic record of proceedings of the Council meetings shall receive such compensation as the City Council may from time to time provide by resolution. 7. The rates of pay set forth in the foregoing schedule represent the standard monthly rate of compensation in terms of dollars per month based upon full employment except for the City Attorney whose rate of compensation is based upon part-time employment and who may be paid such additional compensation as the City Council may fix and determine. 8. .Commencing September 1, 1972, the following longevity schedule will be in effect. The longevity provision is considered a progressive "grandfather provision" and applies only to those employees who have 15 or more years service on the Burlingame Police or Fire Department. Employees with 15 but less than 20 years of service and who are 35 or more years of age will receive an additional 212% of pay. Employees with 20 but less than 25 years of service and who are 40 or more years of age, will receive an additional 2'�% of pay (5% Total) . Employees with 25 or more years of service and who are 45 or more years of age will receive an additional 2'% of pay (Total 711A). 9. Commencing September 1, 1972, the following educational program will be in effect: This provision applies to new employees of the Burlingame Police and Fire Departments and to all such who do not qualify for the longevity provision under item 8 above: Employees with 5 years or more of service and 15 college credits will receive 21�% additional pay. Employees with 10 or more years of service and 30 college credits will receive 2�% additional pay (Total 5%). Employees with 15 or more years of service and 60 college credits will receive 2-�% additional pay (Total 7�%). It is understood that the same employee cannot get both educational and longevity benefits. 10. Effective July 1, 1973, the educational or longevity increment shall be considered as wages for the purposes of computing overtime and holiday pay. vv WILLIAM J. CROSBY 14AYOR I, Charles F.
