RESOLUTION REQUESTING STATE DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO STUDY PENINSULA
AVENUE ACCESS TO BAYSHORE FREEWAY
Whereas, the City of Burlingame and the City of San
Mateo both benefit from access to the Bayshore Freeway (US 101)
at Peninsula Avenue; and
Whereas, the present access to the Bayshore Freeway is
only for the northbound direction and it is desirable to both
cities that southbound access be obtained; and
Whereas, the Anza Pacific Master Plan for development
of lands to the northeast of this interchange anticipates the
generation of 17,000 vehicles per day, of which sixty per cent
are estimated to use access routes to the south: and
Whereas, the County of San Mateo is proposing a major
recreational facility at Coyote Point which will generate addi-
tional traffic from the interchange to the east;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Burlingame does hereby
request the State of California Department of Transportation to
conduct a detailed study of a new connection to Bayshore Freeway
in the vicinity of Peninsula Avenue to provide full north and
south access to Peninsula Avenue, Coyote Point Drive and Airport
Boulevard.
