HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 037-1975RESOLUTION NO. 17 - 75 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR EMERGENCY WATER TRANSMISSION LINE IMPROVEMENTS - JOB NO. 75 - 6 Whereas, the water transmission line of the City under the Bayshore Freeway serving the east Millsdale Industrial Tract has collapsed, thereby endangering both industrial and emergency water supplies to that area and to all areas to the north and east of the Bayshore Freeway; and Whereas, Building Code Section 37906 allows contracts for public works to be let upon a declaration that the public interest and necessity demand the immediate expenditure of public money to safeguard life, health and property; and Whereas. the Director of Public Works has advised this Council that such a condition exists with regard to said water transmission line, and with the approval of this Council has solicited bids for the replacement of such water transmission line from a number of qualified contractors; and Whereas, on May 28, 1975, all bids received were opened before the City Clerk and the Director of Public Works; and Whereas, UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY submitted the Ilowest bid for doing said work for the sum of $33,690.00; NOW, TI3EREFORE, be it RESOLVED that it is hereby ordered and determined that the public interest and necessity demand the immediate expenditure of public money to safeguard life, health and property through the replacement of the water transmission line described above; and the bid of UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY for the sum of $33,690.00 be and the same is hereby accepted. on BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a contract be entered into between the successful bidder hereinabove referred to and the City of Burlingame for the performance of said work, and that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized for and on behalf of the City of Burlingame to execute said contract and to approve the faithful performance bond and labor and materials bond required to be furnished by the contractor. � r Mayor HERBERT K.
