HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 039-1976y_ -6 RESOLUTION NO. 39 - 76 RESOLUTION REQUESTING CORRIDOR AND HIGHWAY FACILITY STUDY FOR ROUTE 280 AS AN OFFICIAL SCENIC HIGHWAY RESOLVED, by the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame, County of San Mateo, State of California, that: WHEREAS, the State Scenic Highway Law of 1963 provides that any highway included in the State Master Plan for Scenic Highways is eligible for designation as an "Official State Scenic Highway" and may be so designated by the State of California's Director of Transportation following the com- pletion of procedures Prescribed by the State; and WHEREAS, responsibility for the initiation of said designation procedures rests with the legislative body of the county or city having jurisdiction over lands adjacent to eligible scenic highways and initiation may be effectuated by that body through its notification of the Department of Transportation's District Director of its intention to conduct studies towards qualifying certain highways as Official Scenic Highways; and WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame Scenic Roads Element of the General Plan indicates Route 280 as a future scenic highway; and WHEREAS, this Council is the legislative body having jurisdiction over land adjacent to Route 280 in the incorporated portions of the City of Burlingame; NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby ORDERED and DETERMINED that: 1. This City Council does hereby declare its intent to conduct studies towards qualifying as "Official State Scenic Highway" those portions of Route 280 within the incorporated area of the City of Burlingame, and does hereby request that the Department of Transportation's District Director prepare corridor and facility studies of said portions of Route 280. 2. The Burlingame Planning Director and the City Engineer are directed to furnish such information as may be needed by the Department of Transportation of the State of California in making the studies necessary to achieve official designation of Route 280 as an "Official Scenic Highway." Mayor EVELYN H.
