HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 091-19774� RESOLUTION NO. 91 - 77 REQUESTING THE DESIGNATION OF ROUTE 280 AS A SCENIC HIGHWAY AND ENUMER- ATING PROTECTIVE MEASURES THEREFOR WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Burlingame has received the Scenic Highway Report for State Highway Route 280; and WHEREAS, the City desires to apply to the District Director for designation of Route 280 as an official State Scenic Highway and submit evidence of measures for protecting and enhancing the corridor already enacted; and to assume that no land use will be permitted which will be contrary to the protection and enhancement of our existing outstanding natural scenic environment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Burlingame: Section I. The City of Burlingame requests the designation of Route 280 as a Scenic Highway. Section II. The City of Burlingame has enacted a zoning ordinance which prohibits any commercial or industrial land use adjoining Route 280, and submits said zoning ordinance herewith. Section III. The City of Burlingame has enacted a sign ordinance which prohibits and regulates signs adjoining Route 280 and submits said ordinance herewith. Section IV. The City of Burlingame has approved a Scenic Roads and HighwaysElement of the City's General Plan which declares protective land use policies for Route 280, and submits said element herewith. Section V. The City of Burlingame assures that any lands owned by the City within the corridor of Route 280 will not be used to detract from the scenic beauty of said highway.
