HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - PR - 2015.10.15MEETING MINUTES Regular Meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission Thursday, October 15, 2015 The regular meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairman Martin at 7:00 pm at the Burlingame Recreation Center, 850 Burlingame Ave, Burlingame. ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Martin, Baird, Baum, Colson, Dito, Lewis, and Schissler Staff Present: Parks & Recreation Director Glomstad, Recreation Supervisor Acquisti, Recreation Coordinator Rath & Office Assistant Martin MINUTES The Minutes of the September 17, 2015 regular meeting were approved as read. PUBLIC COMMENTS — None OLD BUSINESS - None NEW BUSINESS A) Burlingame School District — Director Glomstad explained the collaboration between Parks and Recreation Department and Burlingame School District to provide community programming. Questions were answered regarding scheduling of enrichment programs, sports programs and field use. An explanation of percentage of funds to the Burlingame School District and calculations used was discussed. B) Throw Back Thursday Movies in the Park - Coordinator Rath invited the Commissioners and meeting attendees to the November 22" d viewing of Ghost Busters at Cuernavaca Park. Coordinator Rath publically thanked Gold Medal Gym for their sponsorship of the traveling movie series. C) Dog Off -Leash Program — Supervisor Acquisti gave an update of dog parks currently used in Burlingame. Additional hours requested at Cuernavaca Park were discussed. The process for neighborhood / community outreach meeting prior to approval of off lease hours is required. A motion was made by Colson to formally explore evening hours from dusk to 9 pm at Cuernavaca Park, seconded by Baum, and the motion was approved unanimously. REPORTS/HANDOUTS A) Parks & Recreation Foundation reported that the foundation presented the Jeffrey Griffith Scholarship Foundation at the City Council meeting that was attended by the Griffith Family. The Parks & Recreation Foundation has added new board members and foundation is in the process of updating their website. AYSO was invited to partner with the foundation to donate funds for new sod and irrigation of Murray fields. B) Correspondence —None Parks & Recreation Commission Minutes August 20, 2015 — Page 2 C) Commissioners Reports - Colson reported attending the Traffic Commission Meeting discussed the Lorton & California open green spaces beautification elements. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: A) AED presentation by Erica Lyons for field and park installations. B) Field Rental Software NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission is scheduled to be held on Thursday, November 17, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Burlingame Recreation Center.
