Regular Meeting on Thursday, September 15, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
A duly noticed regular meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission was called to order
by Chair Baum at 7:04 pm at the Burlingame Recreation Center, 850 Burlingame Ave, Burlingame.
ROLL CALL
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Baum, Dito (arrived at 7:15), Milne, Schissler
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Malekos Smith, Lewis
STAFF PRESENT: Recreation Supervisor Barry, Recreation Coordinator Fuhrman,
Management Analyst Hager and Administrative Assistant Helley
OTHERS PRESENT: Lisa Stoltz, Burlingame; Briant Chun-Hoon, Burlingame; Dan
Porter, Burlingame
MINUTES
The Minutes of the August 18, 2016 regular meeting were approved as written. 4-0.

NEW BUSINESS
1. Preschool Programming Update - Recreation Coordinator Fuhrman gave a power point
presentation about the Village Park Preschool program. She noted the two room facility,
remodeled in 1999, is host to a three day and two day a week morning program for ages 2-4. In
addition, is a three day a week afternoon program and 3-three week summer camp preschool
programs.
2. Senior Programming Update — Recreation Coordinator Fuhrman presented information about
the programs available for seniors. Programs include tax assistance, blood pressure screening,
gentle exercise class and technology assistance. In addition informational seminars on topics
that affect seniors, drop in activities (movies, bingo, ping pong, pickle ball and bridge) are
offered. Special events, such as a Valentine's Day& Halloween dance, a Holiday Luncheon and
a Hot dog and Ice Cream Social are offered seasonally. The Department generates a senior
newsletter with articles and offerings that are of interest. Fuhrman reported the development of a
Senior Activities Committee. The committee will be an informal committee, comprised of 5
seniors that will serve as a liaison and be a voice in the community. The committee will provide
input on senior programming needs. The City offers a discount to residents of 65+ of 25% off the
resident rate and for non-resident seniors the resident rate.

Supervisor Barry reported the Burlingame Soccer Club will be on the October agenda as it appears there
may be another partnership that may affect field use.
Also, for validation for field use for Coyotes Lacrosse and the Burlingame Soccer Club for the 2na
subletting violation.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission is scheduled to be held on Thursday, October
20, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Burlingame Recreation Center.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 7:48 pm.
