Regular Meeting on Thursday, March 16, 2017
1. CALL TO ORDER
The duly noticed regular meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission was called to
order by Vice Chair Dito at 7:11 pm at the Burlingame Recreation Center, 850 Burlingame Ave,
Burlingame.
2. ROLL CALL
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Dito, Lewis, Milne, Palacio (arrived at 7:20pm), and Schissler (arrived
at 7:30pm).
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Baum & Malekos-Smith
STAFF PRESENT: Parks & Recreation Director Glomstad, Supervisor Barry, Recreation
Coordinator Rath & Recording Secretary Helley
OTHERS PRESENT: Sylvia Lam, Executive Director of the Burlingame Aquatic Club
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Palacio made a motion to approve the February 16, 2017 minutes. The motion was
seconded by Commissioner Milne and was unanimously approved. 5-0-2. (Baum and Malekos-Smith
absent)

7. NEW BUSINESS
a. Update from Burlingame Aquatic Club
Sylvia Lam, the Director of the Burlingame Aquatic Club, introduced herself and gave a brief summary
of her experience in the field. She reviewed the goals and objectives for the future of the club and the
steps they are taking to ensure success and safety for any and all participants in the clubs programs.

b. Quality of Life Presentation
Director Glomstad presented to the Commission a part of a larger effort by the City to engage the public
as it undertakes this year's budget planning process. The City of Burlingame is committed to continuing
to reflect the community's priorities in the budget decision -making so the local quality of life is

8. STAFF AND COMMISSIONER REPORTS
a. Parks & Recreation Department Reports
Director Glomstad reported the following:
The Dragons Football organization has proposed to the City the installation of bleachers at Murray for
the use of the field for their games.
Staff will be giving an update on Mills Canyon at the May meeting.
The grand opening of Village Park Playground is tentatively scheduled for March 31, 2017 in the
morning.

9. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS

There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 pm.
The next meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission is scheduled to be held on Thursday, April 20,
2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Burlingame Recreation Center.
