CALL TO ORDER The duly noticed regular meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission was called to order by Chair Baum at 7:03 pm at the Burlingame Recreation Center, 850 Burlingame Ave, Burlingame. 2. ROLL CALL COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: STAFF PRESENT: OTHERS PRESENT: 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Baum, Lewis, Milne, Schissler and Palacio Dito & Malekos-Smith Parks & Recreation Director Glomstad, Supervisor Barry, Recreation Coordinator Rath & Recording Secretary Helley None Commissioner Schissler made a motion to approve the January 19, 2017 minutes. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Milne and was unanimously approved. 5-0-2. (Dito and Malekos-Smith absent) 4. CORRESPONDENCE Invitation to Arbor Day — March 7, 2017 and Invitation to the Commissioners Dinner — March 10, 2017 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS None 6. OLD BUSINESS a. Confirmation of Sport Lines for Synthetic Turf at Murry Field Supervisor Barry presented the field lining options developed by the subcommittee for the synthetic turf at Murry Field. After review and discussion, which included the adjustment of the lacrosse lines and reducing the amount of lines to avoid line confusion during play, Commission made a motion. Motion by Palacio (seconded by Milne): Commission moved to approve the field lining option as presented by staff with the lacrosse lines being set at 160 and both center circles on the smaller fields being removed. MOTION PASSED 5-0-2 (Dito and Malekos-Smith) 1 Parks & Recreation Commission Approved Minutes February 16, 2017 7. NEW BUSINESS a. New Recreation Programs — Spring/Summer 2017 Recreation Coordinator Rath presented the new class offerings for the Spring & Summer 2017 session which include the areas of Tots/Preschool, Youth/Teens, Enrichment classes and camps, Sports camps, Adult classes, Fitness and Senior activities. b. Special Committee Assignments Chair Baum noted the addition of the Paloma Park Playground Committee and the assignment of Lewis and Schissler to that committee. Commissioner Lewis will be added to the Citizens Advisory Committee and Commissioner Palacio will replace Dito on the Dog Park Task Force. 8. STAFF AND COMMISSIONER REPORTS a. Parks & Recreation Department Reports Director Glomstad reported the following: There will be a City Council study session on Tuesday, February 21 at 5:45pm for Public Art Display to Honor Anson Burlingame. At the regular meeting following that session, Council will discuss the Conceptual Plan for the Burlingame Square Beautification Project. At the February 6 meeting the Council held a study session on the Tree Ordinance Revisions. There is a study session for the Golf Center RFP set for the March 14 Council meeting. At the March Parks & Recreation Commission meeting, there will be a presentation on the Quality of Life in Burlingame. The Parks & Recreation Department is considering adding a fourth brochure printing, separating the spring and summer session into their own brochures. The Dragons Football organization is interested in working with the City to complete the Murray Field project. Staff is waiting for a proposal from the Dragons. b. Commissioners Reports None 9. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS 10. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 7:52 pm. The next meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission is scheduled to be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Burlingame Recreation Center.
