April 25; 1949
A special meeting of the Burlingame Library Board was
held on this date at 7:30 p.m. at the library. The meeting
was called to discuss the- installation of the neer light
fixtures, the 1949/50 budget, and professional Alassification
and salaries.
Present were Mrs. Johnson, Messers Ha11,Reynolds and
Fichtner. Alsp present was Mrs. Dombaugh, Assistant Librarian.
A letter was read from Mr. Fitch, City Engineer, stating
that the light fixtures would be installed in the library by
the end of June, 1949. Mrs. Dombaugh was instructed to see
Mr. Fitch and ascertain whether or not the fixtures can be
installed by the end of May, 1949, as that is the last month
in this fiscal year. She will report at the next regular
meeting.
A motion was made, seconded and carried that the budget
passed on April 6 for the year 1949/50 be rescinded. Each
item in the budget was scrutinized. Quotations from Mr. -
Fitch on the cost of the main and branch furnaces were read
and chgnges made in these items in the budget. Mr. Hall
informed the Board that he had been instructed to keep the
salarXes in a ccord with the latest printed classification.
There was a discussion of professional classification and
salaries. During part of this discussion Mrs. Dombaugh was
absent. It was decided that Mr. Hall should talk to the Civil
Service Commission on this matter.
It was moved, .seconded and carried that a budget of
$47,531 be submitted to the City Hall. This will not include
any increases in salary for any member of the library Staff.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
