Burns, Fichtner, Raymond and Reynolds T .zstees Absent: None INU`rES Minutes of the meeting of August 3rd were read and approved. JAXITORIAL The American Building Maintenance Co. and 'Rancelli, Demattei & Co. submitted BIDS bids for performing the janitorial services in the Main library building and in the Branch library building. The former's bid was X375.50 and the letter's $105.00 for both buildings. The latter's bid was accepted upon motion of Mr. Reynolds with the second by I1°. Raymond. 'ORGANIZATION As theresignationof Mr. James A. Hall had been accepted by Mayor Love anal Mr. Francis Raymond had been appointed to complete Mr. Hall's term, a re- organization was necessary. Upon motion of Mr. Burns with the second. by Cdr. Raymond, Mr. Reynolds vras nominated President. Upon motion of;Mfr. Raymond =jith the motion by Mr. Fichtner, the clerk of the Board ( r. McLean) was ordered to cast an unanimous ballot elect-big Mr. Reynolds ;president. BILLSUpon motion of Mr. Fichtner with: the second by Mfr. Raymond, bills to the sum of $4250.26 were ordered Maid. LIBR&RIANIS The Librarian's report was approved and accepted upon motion of 1rs. Johnson u IM PORT with the second by Mr. Raymond. BOOR FUNDS The monthly allocation of book funds will no longer be needed. Mr. ;McLean is to use his judgment as business manager in seeing that equitable distribution is made from this section of the budget. CO POND: ICE:Mrs. Henry Luke was to explain just who would be "using the assembly room for discussion sur-roses before 'permission would be granted as requested in her letter. If ans7esatisfactory to the Librarian, permission would be forth_, coming. Letters ordered sent in the August meeting had their carbon copies read. TYe se were to the City Council, Mr. Anderson, Mr. Forsythe, Mrs. Dombaugh and the Great Books Foundation. In addition, a copy of a letter sent to Mr. A. . Colby regarding the death of his father was read. The Librarian had sent t3is without consulting the Library Board. Tars. Patterson (Esther P.) had requested that she be placed upon 100; time 'PATTERSON instead of her old,status of 90;x. This Was granted upon motion of Airs. JohnwIn with the second by Mr. Raymond. PHONE-BOOTH It was decided that it Would be inappropriate to have a public telephone booth installed in the vestibule of the main library. PAM HLLT The Librarian was instrcuted to obtain price estimates for the printing of a T—ohlet or leaflet which would describe the services of the library. CATALOG With a re-varvin.g of systems, it was -pointed out that the full quota, of public catalog trays would not be necessary. The Librarian was given the sanetori, upon motion of fir. Fichtner, to purchase only the required items. 9-7-49 MILEAGE The Librarian was requested to investigate City Hall procedures to learn what remuneration was given City employees who use their own vehicles while on City business. The inquiry should also divulge whether or not the City had comprehensive and/or non-automobile ownership insurance policies to cover such contigencies. , EDUCA.TON The Librarian was requested to see that each Board member received a:-copy CODE of the Education Code so that they would have reference to the Sttte Mmi.cipal Library act under which this Library operates.
