ROLL CALL Trustees Present: Pers. Johnson, Messrs. Burns, Fichtner, Raymond and Reynolds Trustees Absent: None 7th MINUTES Minutes of the regular meeting of September/were read and approved upon motion of Mr. Raymond with the second by Mr. Burns. BILLS Bills to the amount of $4,166.29 were ordered paid upon motion of Mrs. Johnson with the second by Mr. Fichtner. LIBRARIAN'S Upon motion of Mr. Raymondwith the second by Mr. Burns, the Librarian's REPORT report was accepted. (This is the "Statistics" sheet appearing in the monthly report for September.) CORRESP,)NDENCE A letter from the California Centennials Commission was read. In regards to the exhibit materials and nublicity helps offered therein, the Library is to accept same. :hiss Mabel R. Gillis, State Librarian, sent an answer to a query from the City Librarian. As new data had come to light, the latter was instructed to seek further information from her. OLD The City Librarian reported that leaflets descritive of the Library and S'INESS its services could be obtained for a printing charge (no art .pork) of ,, d $77.65 for five thousand and : 118.70 for ten thousand. A "dui" le afle t is to be prepared for the edification of the Board so that due consideration- can be given at the next budget hearings. A report on the inventory as taken September 5th through 10th showed Vat only the fiction of the adult collection had been completed. Rather than c>Lose the Library for the nonfiction collection, the Librarian is to im- vestigate the budget to discover if part-time help could be hired to assist in this process. The Librarian reported that eight cents a mile is paid City employees who use their own cars on official business. However, the insurance angle is still vague, so further investigation is required. NW BUSINESS Long-term subscriptions for magazines will be considered when the Board learns more about its rights and privileges. The Board was informed that the Civil Service Commission had been requested to form a list of Library Assistants as Mrs. Harriett M. Meuel will be re- signing in January. The Board decided that teachers' privileges (30 to 50 books for a period of a month or more) will be extended only to those instructors in public and S parochial schools,] 10-5-49 p. 2 ,. NES In order to simp1gy the phrase for designating the time the Board will 3USINESS meet ("the Wednesday after the first Monday"), it was agreed that the (contd. ) meetings will be on the first dednesday of each month. As for the holidays the Library will be closed for ser7ice, it was agreed that the Library will close when the banks close EXCEPT when school is in session. Furthermore, that the Library will close at 5:30 on Christmas and New Year's eves. As the employees in the City Hall are officially on a 40-hour, 5-day week, it was thought best for the Library staff t ; be upon a similar schedule.
