APRIL 5th, 1950 AT 7:30 PM

;HNi;^i.ES The minutes of Harch. lst, 1950 were read and approved. The Librarian's
report, as given on the statistics page of the monthly report, was f
ordered accepted upon motion of S:Lr. TEAL with the second by Mr. FICIMIER.
BILLS Warrants to the sum of `;1361':.73 were ordered paid upon motion of Mrs.
HAI?.R.ISON with the second by M7. FMMM.
OLD BUSITIESS The consideration of the fine schedule and the non-resident fees was
tabled because of the absence of i:Ir. BIMNS.
The Librarian reported that the inventory was proceeding with all
diligence. The Board made the request that the inventory be concluded
by the June meeting.
Upon motion of Mr. FICHTIM ti^ritz the second by 1r. TEAL, the Librarian
was ordered to order the fluorescent lighting fixtures from Phillips &
Echrards Electrical Corporation of San Francisco (29 units) as per their
bid of i.darch 2nd, 1950. And (part II of same motion) to tell Andersen's
Electric Co. of Burlingame that their bid to install said fixtures at ` J
_ the charge of A,6.00 per unit had been accepted. Installation could be-
gin at once, as there are tiro boxes (four units) in the Library already.
NEE BUSINESS The Board agreed that the week of April 17th would be designated as
"FJRGIVEIESS 'dEr n" during which a moratorium on_all fines -rill be in
effect; i.e., all Burlingame Public Library books which are overdue may
be returned with no questions asked insofar as overdue penalties are
concerned.
Effective April 17th, "Special Request" postal cards --rill cost the user
five cents instead of two cents as in the past. The lower figure was a
service at cost of materials only. The neer price will help offset some
of the labor involved.
REPORTS The Easton Branch is to be used as a polls in the May 19th school elections.
This brill be possible by letting the officials use the front furnace room
and locking off the Library proper witI.he inner double doors. {
The Librarian gave a brief account of the Golden Gate District meeting of
The California Library Association held at Mills College, Oakland, on

As is the custom, the Library is to be closed from noon to 3:00 P.I3. on
Good Friday.
City Engineer's Department: Work compl6ted on building to date since last
report includes the installation of the floor electric outlet in the main
reading room, installation of a storage hot nater heater, and a signal light
at the charging desk o.re rated from the Librarian's office.
Folla-,ring the adjourruient, the Librarian used his equipment to show the
Board a 20-minute moving picture, "The Telephone Hour," and received the
Board's approval to shore such movies in the Library each Friday till June.
