Millennium Project Managers Meeting March 19th • Carpet Squares - Group 4 brought a variety of carpet square samples to give the managers an overview of designs and colors that they might want to consider for flooring in the remodel. Pat Harding expressed concern about the longevity of the squares. After much discussion, the staff expressed an interest in researching the possibility of replacing the old carpet with the same carpet design. Andrea requested that Pat send her a piece of the original carpet and she would contact the new owner of Monterey Carpet. • Signage -Andrea noted that she envisioned the wood trim identifying the signage to be a lighter shade than the darker stain that is used throughout the library. Pat stated that she preferred the darker stain for the trim in order to preserve the 1930's ambience. One of the goals of the 1997 remodel was to keep the look and feel of the 1930's library that is so enduring to the residents. This remodel should have the same focus. 4. The CENIC Bandwidth Infrastructure Project will provide 1 Gbps to Burlingame Main Library. The project is going to be phased in and Burlingame will be one of the first libraries to migrate to the new CENIC circuit. This should be completed by July 2013. Easton will be upgraded to 20 Mbps. This is a very exciting project and one that will impact staff and patrons, providing a much faster Internet connection. We will be a model for the entire state for use of CENIC. The California State Library is doing a "budget ask" involving the CENIC/CLA/State Library proposal to connect libraries to the CENIC backbone. New Portable Sound System-. We purchased a new portable sounds system that will fit our needs now and for the future. The first use will come in the Children's Room for the Lemony Snicket program on Monday,April 291h but it is powerful enough to be used outside on the front steps as well. Other upcoming uses will be our Summer Reading Kick-off and Patio Booksale on Saturday,June 15th and the Children's Holiday Tea. t New Library Facebook Presence—John Piche and Kelly Mackewicz are updating the profiles for each department in the Library for our Facebook page.
